rajmthanks toscalix08:58
toscalixsituation explained here https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/3709:03
toscalixI will re-open gold master declaration ticket09:08
rajmok - rather than creating a new one? and therefore retitling it as 0.9.109:10
toscalix0.9 is fine09:10
toscalixI will mention the numbering in the comment09:10
rajmok np09:13
toscalixdeployment re-opened https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/8609:21
toscalixgold master declaration re-opened09:21
toscalixhttps://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/8509:21
rajmI've populated https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/94 with the items which will need addressing09:26
toscalixah, thanks09:26
toscalixI will go over it09:26
toscalixupdated feature page https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/38 The block diagram might need to be adapted again09:28
rajmI think it's (the diagram) ok at least as far as the kernelci-*end software09:33
rajmwe need to change the scripts - test the new form (so create a new box) then create merge requests and only then can I start building the release (so that the repos & signed code matches)09:35
toscalixyes09:36
toscalixmodified the task https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/39 to reflect that we need to change the set2net docu09:37
toscalixoh, we have in a couple of pages the link to the bug tracker. We need to change those links also09:41
toscalixupdted https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/40 with the new required changes09:42
toscalixupdated https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/41 about release announcement09:46
rajmprovisioning new box from the new gitlab location09:51
toscalixcreated a new ticket to track the tasks related with the landing page https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/9509:53
toscalixchanged the links to gitlab in the landing page09:54
toscalixjust to be clear rajm you confirm there is no need to change the block diagram, right?09:55
rajmwait until the provisioning is done and then I'll check all the versions09:56
toscalixfine, thanks09:57
toscalixnew ticket since we also need to change the folder in S310:06
toscalixhttps://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/9610:06
toscalixrajm: I am about to delete the archives in the download service10:17
toscalixdo you have a local copy?10:18
rajmthe archives? this is the sources dir in b@dv0_910:18
rajm?10:18
toscalixyes10:19
rajmyes I still have all the tgz files and the sig/sha256's10:19
toscalixdeleting10:19
toscalixdeleted and new folders created10:20
rajmyou'll leave the vagrant box - as outlined in #96 until we know that no-one is using it?10:20
toscalixnop10:21
toscalixerased10:21
toscalixwe will need to create the new one and upload it. I do not want any new user using something that will not be released10:21
toscalixbetter for them to wait a few days than using something we will not supoprt/use10:22
rajmyou'll change #96 which says we won't delete until until Members confirm it isn't being used?10:22
toscalixI will10:23
rajm\o/10:23
toscalixah, I added that for future releases10:23
toscalixso no problem with that statement10:23
rajmI have a provisioned box from the new location just checking out linux-cip to it10:23
rajmah ok10:24
rajmI found the title v0.9 confusing but maybe that's me being too close to the action10:25
toscalixlet's go now for the release announcement10:25
toscalixthe titles say 0.9 not 0.9.0 so technically the titles are correct10:26
rajmyes it's me - though I tagged 0.9.0 as 0.9 in git (as per #80)10:28
rajmthat's the release schedule (aka release announcement)? you'll do that?10:29
toscalixchecking10:31
toscalixI will re-open this10:32
toscalixre-opened to change the tag https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/8010:33
rajmdoes #68 need a new comment with the new box name?10:35
rajmwork slowly - don't attempt a qemu health check and a cip kernel build simultaneously!10:40
toscalixrajm: is this correct?10:46
toscalixThe released VM assumes the usage of an FTDI USB-to-Serial cable to connect the host machine to the Beaglebone Black. I also uses ser2net to route the /dev/ttyUSB0 serial port to a TCP port on the host machine which allows the user to use telnet to communicate to the Beaglebone Black console for remote login and boot messages. It also allows LAVA to use tftp to transfer the kernel directly over to the board eMMC without needing to burn an SD Card.10:47
toscalixchecking 6810:47
toscalixadding new comments10:47
toscalixcomments added in #6810:50
rajmYes I think that's correct - and it says *host machine* where's that from? s/I also uses/I also use/ though I'd like to drop the 'I' altogether10:50
toscalixrelease announcement10:50
toscalixIt also uses10:52
toscalixit uses since also is mentioned later10:52
rajmok10:54
rajmvery similar text on the feature page (wrt where ser2net is running)11:03
toscalixoh, if we change the release day, the link of the release announcement change because is published in a blog11:04
toscalixwhich means that the social media links are wrong11:05
toscalixunexpected issue11:05
toscalixso I added the release announcement to wordpress11:08
toscalixprivate11:09
toscalixvisibility, I mean11:09
toscalixI reflected this issue in the https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/4111:14
toscalixmodified and extended the task https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/90 about the social media messages11:19
toscalixsocial media campaign modified11:25
toscalixLink to release annoucnement erased11:25
rajmhealth check on BBB with new repos failing :-( u-boot failing file not found - investigating12:18
toscalixok12:37
toscalixgoing ove #9412:44
rajmthinks the health check issue is because the vm likes a halt and re-up (but will try that am in the midst of a kernel rebuild)]12:47
* rajm thinks that first tickbox waits on the MR maybe the MR needs adding as a point12:49
toscalixI went over the #84 plan. I think all tasks has been already considered, which means they are part of other release related tasks, except one. Can you rajm double check?12:49
toscalixhaving issues mirroring the repo12:52
rajmI don't see the 'test with the new location, build a new vm from scratch' in a ticket as it was part of everyday work (and the following 2 points)12:54
rajmthat's clearly #94 rather than #8412:55
toscalixthat is needed to declare gold master12:55
toscalixchecking #9412:55
toscalixwill add in #94 to test with vagrant12:56
toscalixbefore decalring gold master12:56
rajmbut those tasks in the gold master issue relate to a clean build I need to do that testing before creating the MR12:56
rajmyes12:56
toscalixplease uncheck the box in #84 then12:56
toscalixgood that you double checked12:57
toscalixadded vagrant check box to #8512:58
rajmdone (though the build is done so I left it ticked)12:58
toscalixsorry, in #94, not #8412:58
toscalix#84 is good as it is12:59
toscalixdanny has reviewed the blog post so it is ready... once we have the release date, so the link to the release announcement13:00
rajmoops - we need additional doc on page 4 relating to lava-tool - need to create an authorisation and I will need to do it in the box before export13:01
rajmso I think both the wiki update ticket and #85 need updating - I'll do it13:02
rajmboth issues updated13:07
toscalixthanks13:08
rajm\o/ the BBB with the new git repos health checks \o/ either it's running out of resources - after qemu and kernel building - though I did ensure there was piles of disk space or the vm likes a halt and re-up after provisioning and setup - maybe  a 'we recommend ' at the close of part 2?13:13
toscalixthe new repo keeps failing. Keep trying13:16
rajmam about to push the script change to add a MR can we edit the readme.md directly on the web until both you and I are happy without it going via local git?13:18
toscalixhummm13:20
toscalixlet me check13:20
toscalixI will commit the changes13:22
rajmdoes that mean you know what changes you want to make to readme - I'll give it a once over and then tag it ready for building what will be the release box13:23
toscalixyes13:24
toscalixI know13:24
rajm:-) I'll do that MR13:24
toscalixMR done13:35
rajmthanks and corrects typo13:40
toscalixgrrrrr13:41
toscalixtypos13:41
rajmI think I'm ready to tag with 0.9.1 (and will make sure kernelci-backend-config also gets tagged!)13:43
toscalixtake 5 min before doing it13:43
rajmyes a deep breath and think13:44
toscalixde-prioritised https://gitlab.com/cip-project/cip-testing/testing/issues/5113:45
toscalixno demo preparation until we release13:45
patersoncnooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo13:46
toscalixI know, but no time. As you can see, we are re-doing the whole release process and even some new tasks in order to achieve the request from LF to move the repos13:46
patersoncIndeed, no worries!13:47
toscalixrajm started yesterday but we needed to re-prioritise the release13:47
toscalixI do not have the ok yet from the CIP board13:47
toscalixbut I had to take a decision, wait for the ok (with the risk that another requirement comes) or go ahead and clear the issues we know13:48
toscalixso we can release on time for the event13:48
toscalixI went for the second option13:48
patersoncThat's fine. Priority is clearly the release.13:48
patersoncWe'll have to wait for your pretty video another day ;)13:49
toscalixif a new requirement comes, and we have to re-do the release process again.... we are screqw13:49
toscalixrajm: in a suit13:49
toscalixI wanted to see that13:49
patersonc:)13:49
toscalixno time to cry though13:49
patersoncha13:50
* rajm books flight to tokyo13:51
CTtpollard:O13:53
rajmthough it looks that a walk around Ducie house to find some fresh air will have to do13:56
toscalix... if it is not raining13:57
toscalix;-)13:57
rajmthat's part of the problem the aircon is leaking and showering colleagues13:58
toscalix:-o13:58
rajmI've added kernelci-backend-config to #85 (gold master)14:04
rajmwonders how we can stop referencing David Rekow in the readme (do we need to scatter <nowiki>'s around - tooo late now!)14:05
rajmremembers that my linkedin profile has me in a suit (but not a tie I think), Laufenburg I think14:06
toscalixoh, I have to see that14:07
toscalixhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/robertajmarshall/photo/14:08
toscalixwith a tie14:08
patersoncrajm: You look very happy in that photo!14:09
toscalixhappy as today14:09
rajm:-) it was after lunch and my colleague knew some nice restaurants from previous visits to SwissGrid14:11
CTtpollardmanchester is far too warm14:13
rajmthough either the restuarant is now gone or it's changed its web address so don't ask me for an address14:21
rajmtags repos's and ticks and closes #8014:29
toscalixgood14:30
* rajm updates #44 to add suggestion to update wiki about rebooting the vm14:33
rajm.. and ticks a few more things on #85 I am about to scratch another box!14:35
*** patersonc has quit IRC14:38
toscalixhttps://github.com/kernelci/kernelci-backend-config fails to update in gitlab15:00
toscalixit is like what it happened with the kernel repo at the beginning. I think it is simply a timeout due to gitlab.com being overloaded15:01
toscalixafter 10 min gives you a timeout15:01
toscalixso maybe during the night...15:01
rajmooh life from gitlab and then vagrant up15:04
rajmwas about to consider taking the laptop home to run vagrant up overnight but it looks like this won't be necessary15:07
toscalixwhy not?15:08
rajmbecause the provisioning is nearly done15:08
rajms/nearly //15:09
toscalixah, good15:09
toscalixtomorrow is going to be another tough day so evenings should be family time15:20
rajmwe're heading out for a walk in the hills followed by pub :-)15:20
toscalixgreat15:26
toscalixI have so many things to do to prepare my trip to OSSJ...15:26
CTtpollardI finally got Yen today, on the third day of trying15:27
rajmnew release box health checks QEMU have the lava-tool auth setup and am just building BBB kernel and that'll be it for the day!15:33
rajmstill building leaves it to complete...15:45
toscalix\o/15:59
toscalixCTtpollard: here you need to order them 10 days in advance except at the airport which requires 3. So I will pick them up at the airport, although they are more expensive there16:00
toscalixin any case, it is cheaper to buy them in Japan, as usual, the local currency is cheaper... in the country where it is used16:00
