toscalixNew blog post about the recent changes in GDP: https://at.projects.genivi.org/wiki/display/GDP/2016/06/28/A+new+deliverable+for+those+who+want+latest+and+greatest%3A+GDP+Master09:15
toscalixMoving towards a rolling delivery model09:15
CTtpollardfredcadete: long shot, but in your system in which you're using ivi-shell on qtwayland 5.5, have you been using a touchscreen?09:57
fredcadeteyes09:57
toscalixfredcadete: which one?09:58
fredcadeteGeChic something09:58
fredcadeteone minute09:58
CTtpollardIt seems GDP might have a problem with the onscreen keyboard since the upgrade09:58
fredcadetethis one: http://www.gechic.com/product_help_en.asp?s=1009:59
CTtpollard(it's working under desktop-shell using weston-editor, but not with ivi-shell on any of the text inputs)09:59
fredcadeteunder desktop-shell, I remember there was a sample application for the touchscreen that allows you to check multi-touch10:00
fredcadetemaybe weston-simple-touch?10:00
fredcadeteif it works OK under desktop shell and not with IVI shell, I would check the ILM_INPUT thingy10:01
CTtpollardyes that is working, and I can type with the keyboard on weston-editor10:01
fredcadeteI'm not sure that's what makes a difference, but I am configuring wayland-ivi-extension with "-DWITH_ILM_INPUT=0"10:01
CTtpollardI thought it may stem for ivi-extension initially, but that has not changed in this version of GDP10:02
fredcadeteby the way, what do you mean by "any of the text inputs" ?10:03
CTtpollardfredcadete: so in terms of GDP the simple 'hello world' qml app has a text input field, and the web browser10:03
CTtpollardGDP configures ilm_input=1, so I could try switching that10:04
fredcadeteoh well, then ilm_input should not have anything to do with those failing text inputs if they fail in the desktop shell10:05
toscalixfredcadete: if that touchscreen works with GDP, please report about it so we add them here: https://at.projects.genivi.org/wiki/display/GDP/GDP+and+peripherals10:05
toscalixwe are looking forward to populate this page10:06
fredcadeteit's already there10:06
toscalixups10:06
fredcadeteI didn't put it there, though10:06
toscalixthanks10:06
fredcadetenp10:06
CTtpollardfredcadete: hmm, I've not tested those fields with desktop shell, only the default 'weston-editor' example10:08
CTtpollardwhich works10:08
fredcadeteCTtpollard: so on ivi-shell touch works *except* for the text inputs?10:08
CTtpollardlooks that way right now (on this specific monitor anyway, many behave differently)10:09
CTtpollardI'll try running the qml-example with desktop shell10:11
CTtpollardno keyboard for qml-example, on desktop shell10:17
CTtpollardplot thickens10:17
CTtpollardthe service file for qml-example used by gdp does not have any special commands, so there should be no difference in what I'm running manually10:20
fredcadetewhere is the source for this example?10:21
fredcadetethe description says "Simple QML (ivi-shell) Application"10:21
fredcadeteI would like to understand which interface it uses for text input. Maybe it makes sense that it does not work under desktop shell10:22
CTtpollardone moment10:24
CTtpollardfredcadete: https://github.com/GENIVI/gdp-hmi/tree/master/app/qml-example10:24
CTtpollardunfortunately I don't think I have a GDP8 image available that works with this touch device to cross compares10:25
*** clopez has quit IRC10:26
CTtpollardfrom memory, it did have on screen keyboard support on a touch device I was using10:27
toscalixleon-anavi: around?10:30
*** clopez has joined #automotive10:30
CTtpollardfredcadete: just confirmed no keyboard for browserpoc under desktop shell either10:36
CTtpollardso, that seems to rule out ivi-shell10:37
leon-anavihi toscalix10:50
toscalixleon-anavi: hi, I wanted to ask you for the following bug10:50
toscalixhttps://at.projects.genivi.org/jira/browse/GDP-24910:50
leon-anavitoscalix, I am planning to join the GDP call today. Missed the one last week cause I was at Hong Kong Open Source Conference10:50
toscalixnot a bad justification for missing the call, at all10:51
leon-anaviyes :)10:51
CTtpollardfredcadete: I'm flashing a gdp9 image known to work with this touchscreen, I'll see if I can get a keyboard to launch for qml-example or browser-poc with it. If I can't that can probably rule out a qt / ivi-shell upgrade as the issue10:51
leon-anaviCTtpollard, didn't you resolve the go.cd pipelines failing to compile rust by doing something with the certificates?10:52
CTtpollardleon-anavi: seems to be behaving better atm10:52
toscalixleon-anavi: since for wahtever reason it was assigned to you, I did not close it, just io case you haven't reviewed it works10:52
leon-anaviok10:54
leon-anaviI didn't manage to reproduce this bug locally on my desktop10:54
leon-anaviso whatever I say it will be a guess10:54
leon-anaviCTtpollard, may I assign this issue back to you?10:55
CTtpollardsure10:55
toscalixleon-anavi: thanks10:56
CTtpollardfredcadete: no keyboard on gdp9 (qt5.4) with or without ivi-shell on qml-example or browser-poc11:14
CTtpollardanyhow, reported my results in the ticket https://at.projects.genivi.org/jira/browse/GDP-93 maybe someone else using the non faytech monitor will have a different result11:21

fredcadeteCTtpollard: it looks very weird12:19
fredcadeteI know that some properties of the screen like physical size are propagated up the stack and can have weird effects. For example the HMI can think the screen has low density and behave differently12:20
fredcadeteit's hard to say what exactly is happening here without investigating deeply, and I will NEVER have the time to do it12:21
fredcadeteI am leaving AW by the end of next week and my days of IRC lurking will end12:21
CTtpollardfredcadete: !! :(12:24
fredcadeteCTtpollard: yeah I know. Sad, but it's the circle of jobs12:25
paulsher1oodfredcadete: are you leaving #automotive?12:31
