Guest44424so would this work if somebody did simple drilling holes in there pipe wrench http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://gt4dc.co.uk/info/howto/cambelt/21.jpg&imgrefurl=http://gt4dc.co.uk/info/howto/cambelt/cambelt.htm&h=600&w=800&tbnid=fx9XmwerZjxIEM:&docid=14gjlWhwOJKl_M&ei=u2sHVoC3GISegwSfgJaQBA&tbm=isch04:10
Guest44424to take off the pulley wheel of the crankshaft04:11
Guest44424and harmonic balancer04:11
Guest44424if so could this also be used as a pusher or installer tool seems for the most part air impact tools could do it but seems as alot of people go down an installer tool so they don't over torque it04:12
Guest44424seems also that http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.handymanlyness.com/archives/auto/repair/engine_mech/rebuild_01/01/emcrra46a_engine_rebuild_99_Jimmy.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.handymanlyness.com/archives/auto/repair/engine_mech/rebuild_01/03_crankshaft_remove_GM_V6.html&h=240&w=359&tbnid=JL8NcZLY5c9f2M:&docid=y8CneBAobLgRKM&ei=u2sHVoC3GISegwSfgJaQBA&tbm=isch&ved=0CB8QMygCMAJqFQoTCMCA8dyrlsgCFQTPgAodH4AFQg 3 jaw p04:15
Guest44424uller that looks like a steering wheel puller tool is used also in the case of not only the steering wheel but also to remove the crankshaft sprocket where the timing chain sits on04:15
Guest44424i wonder if you can uses oil strap wrenches as a hold tool for the crankshaft or any other pulley wheel on the side of the serpentine belt seems to me you could. They also have hold down tools one can uses in one hand that thread into the holes on the pulley wheel and allow the other hand to operate a breaker bar... but once it is broken the harmonic balancer puller or steering wheel puller type should be enough to do most p04:24
Guest44424ulley wheels i would imagine for the removal... for installation not sure yet if there is a universial tool to do it... i know of a bunch of hack ways with just a bolt... the not fully sure yet on when it is and is not the best option or when it actually matters on what engines yet04:24
Guest44424This  http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://s2000.byteserve.com.au/images/sc/pulleytool.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/838653-helpdifficulty-removing-crank-pulley-bolt-w-tool/&h=375&w=500&tbnid=Idnd098RXTh_IM:&docid=kQvbohBdrlP1pM&ei=Y24HVoiNL4rCggSMi4jgBQ&tbm=isch&ved=0CDYQMygzMDM4ZGoVChMIyMqnoa6WyAIVCqGACh2MBQJc with an air impact gun should remove most any type pulley bolt simple to make to04:26
Guest44424because all it is is a hold tool that threads on the crank wheel once on you could uses a wrench on a breaker bar ,, tons of options know i see but probably the safest and most professional is using a harmonic balancer or steering wheel type puller and a hold down tool so the wheel doesn't spin when taking off the center bolt04:29
Guest44424The hold tool would also allow the engine not to spin as well... though one could stick a rubber mallet or other thing into the flywheel or crankshaft to stop this from happening it seems more damage risking if done this primitive way so uses or make a hold down tool04:30
Guest44424actually making one of these tools http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://new.minimania.com/images_temp/800600001nme5033a.jpg&imgrefurl=http://new.minimania.com/part/NME5033/Mini-Cooper-Crank-Pulley-Install-Tool-Oem-R52-R53&h=600&w=800&tbnid=9PYCtMWI6ZvbUM:&docid=kV1O4WlebZnaeM&ei=BHIHVrTHN8XegwS31IvYCw&tbm=isch&ved=0CCIQMygGMAZqFQoTCLTZrdyxlsgCFUXvgAodN-oCuw from thick sheet metal and different size drill bits for diffe04:39
Guest44424rent size threads would be simple to act as a pusher/installer tool... all one would need is to cut a square piece large enough to sit on the pulley body and a drill bit size let then the nut head04:39
Guest44424So some sheet metal with different size drill bits is all that is required for making any size pusher for any cam or crank shaft sprocket or pulley wheel. For a puller i still don't see why a larger bolt of same thread size/pitch would not work in all but delicate metal pressing on back cases04:41
Guest44424places04:41
Guest44424so if one just could tap any length screw with any size pitch he wanted the he could create a puller bolt for any type of application for the most part obviously there are other cases like tyre rod where you kind of need the tyre rod tool to remove the  inner tyre rod ball part put with one add metal wheel cutter i can imagine you could fabricate that to.04:44
Guest44424It is then your choice in what way to go about doing it some times the snap-on tools are not much better in easy of uses then just using your brain or making your own. Although some times it definitely safes time to04:45

Guest44424even one can create a fly wheel hold down tool or flywheel removal puller tool with simple sheet metal , drill, and bolts of the right size to fit in the holes... instead of getting the chain strap type hold down tools... even a slide hammer may work as a puller in some case though dangerous in some cases04:54
