furyanyone know off the top of their head if it's easy to grab a video stream of the display over the network from an agl demo platform running on a raspberry pi or am i better off grabbing an HDMI capture card17:15
smurrayfury: I can imagine ways, but I'm not sure if they'd qualify as easy17:32
furyhdmi capture it is :D17:33
smurrayfury: if you're okay with rebuilding the image, you could try adding the agl-weston-remoting feature and then trying to define the only display as a remote one, but it'd take some manual hacking of weston.in and experimentation17:34
furyhmm, might need to keep the primary display accessible as a touchscreen so that i can operate the thing17:34
furyfeasible to have it mirror the display?17:35
furyi can usually rebuild images fine17:35
smurraynot that I know of right off, that'd be a mvlad question17:35
furythanks!17:35
furyaiming at a remote mirroring kind of like the iPad/iPhone have AirPlay mirroring, or the special "camera" mode they get into when you plug them into a Mac and run Quicktime Player with a new video recording17:36
furyso it sounds like hdmi capture will be the easiest way to go about this, then i can just stream the hdmi capture wherever i want17:36
*** Junil has quit IRC17:37
furyi may've misplaced my hdmi capture card tho. whoops17:37
smurrayin theory the Waltham stuff can send the input back, but I'm not aware right off of a client that you could make use of on a desktop17:37
smurrayfury: dl9pf might have some recommendations of cheapish ones available from Amazon, he's experimented a bit17:37
furycool, thanks! otherwise i will probably go with my trusty old friend el gato game capture hd60 s17:38
furynot too worried about cost at this point, i have a bit of "go nuts" wiggle room for the moment. knock on wood.17:39
furybut if it's known to work that's a plus17:39
smurrayfury: AFAICT from browsing some still open weston issues, it cannot do mirroring atm17:43
furygood to know. no worries. thanks smurray :D17:43
smurrayfury: one option that occurs to me might be to use weston-remoting and plug in a mouse and try driving the UI with that17:44
smurrayfury: but you'd likely end up with a cursor17:45
furyhmm. a laggy one prolly17:45

dl9pffury: hi17:54
dl9pfso something like these:17:54
dl9pfhttps://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51F%2BloabZnL._AC_SL1000_.jpg17:54
furyyo17:54
dl9pfthey're cheap usb2 grabbers17:54
dl9pfthey do work nicely and show up a v4l2 device17:55
fury1080p 60 by any chance?17:55
dl9pfso you can e.g. use  guvcview or even use something like 'motion'17:55
dl9pfhmm ... let me check17:55
smurrayfury: seems like it: https://www.amazon.com/Camcorder-Computer-Streaming-Broadcasting-Conference/dp/B08NYHLVX117:56

*** Piraty has quit IRC17:56
dl9pfwith specific settings it might.17:57
dl9pfnot that this thing is USB2 and you will see quite some CPU load on the host then17:57
dl9pfmore expensive are then:17:57
smurraythe USB2 ones mostly look like they're all rebadged units from one vendor ;)17:58
furysweet17:58
furya 9 year old macbook pro with a quad core i7 might have enough cpu oomph17:58
dl9pfhttps://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/81lxS1JDL3L._AC_SL1500_.jpg17:58
dl9pfthese are 'hdmi gaming recorders' with USB3 and passthrough ... multiple vendors / clones17:59
furyyeah, i think usb3 and passthrough might be what i need17:59
dl9pfjust look for HDMI GAMING RECORDER   on amazon17:59
furyawesome17:59
dl9pf70$ upward then ... the USB2 is 20$18:00
dl9pfif they mention 'OBS' they certainly work with linux18:00
dl9pfsome also do capture the sound as well18:00
furyhttps://www.amazon.com/Capture-Passthrough-Streaming-Recorder-Nintendo/dp/B08LK78YWV/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=hdmi+gaming+recorder&qid=1614794404&sr=8-318:00
furythis one might not be too bad18:00
dl9pfcombine that with 'motion' and you can stream18:00
smurrayif you're going to use it a bunch and are worried about quality/support, just grab an Elgato, which a lot of pro streamers use18:01
dl9pfyes,, got one of these18:01
dl9pffor MAC , elgato is the choice , right.18:01
furyyeah. i have an elgato hd60s laying around at home somewhere, just... buried in one of the boxes i buried when the work from home thing happened last year18:01
furymay wind up just buying another one if i can't find it tonight18:02
