furyHi guys11:09
furyHow's it hangin?11:10

mvladleon-anavi: nice presentation yesterday. Had to go dinner mid-through :p, so I'm wondering, have you used the rpi4 w/ 2 monitors by any chance? Wonder if I can hook up two micro-HDMI cables given that they're quite close to each other.12:03

walzerthello together12:17
walzert@all : is there an way to manual change the boot depencies ? On a VM with virtualbox I/my students have the problem that the UI is not loading changing to tty1 with "ctrl + alt + f1" the machine is up. SPEC-3357 seems to be the same.12:19
mvladwalzert: https://lists.automotivelinux.org/g/agl-dev-community/message/847412:24
walzertmvlad: already changed that, it helped to get the image working12:25
walzertbut not the homescreen12:25
mvladhave you tried w/ a pristine image?12:26
walzertit is similar to new images that are not boot in a high frequency now12:26
mvladthe advise is to do the virtualbox when creating the VM, and d/l a new image, which didn't completed the installation bit (so it is new).12:27
walzertmvlad I made a new image and copied that direcly to the harddrive that was never used/booted before. that that means pristine?12:27
mvladwalzert: if you're not in a hurry, I could retry it today w/ virtualbox and get back to you here.12:28
adrianohello, is the yesterday presentation recorded somwhere?12:30
mvladwalzert: yeah, pristine means no modifications has been made to the image. I've noticed that if the set-up part wasn't completed it would get stuck forever even if changing the machine type and the disk controller.12:30
walzertmvlad: with that problem I'm not in hurry, the group of  students need just the access to terminal to get their work done. and atm we are trying to setup their enviorment with virtual box which I think should be the "multiplatform"12:34
leon-anavimvlad, thanks for the feedback. As for the 2 monitors and rpi4, no I haven't tried.12:36
leon-anaviphysically it is possible to hook 2 microHDMI cables. The close proximity of the microHDMI ports on the board is a problem if you use a couple of HDMI to microHDMI connectors. But with generic microHDMI cables mechanically it is fine. I haven't tested if the software will support the 2 monitors. I guess some tweaks might be required.12:38
mvladwalzert: qemu has also a gtk/sdl interface, setting up a qemu script for launching a VM is quite easy. It can also be launched by a regular user so no need for root. The benefit w/ qemu is that it is being used much often that vbox.12:38
mvladleon-anavi: yeah, I'd like to get a couple of those cables to try it out. Software wise we should be able to move/place apps on others outputs.12:39
leon-anaviyes, it is going to be nice to have this option for the apps.12:40
walzertmvlad: is there an easy way to do that under windows? I'm not sure how diverse we are on the students pc'S ;(12:42
walzert;)12:42
mvladleon-anavi: with gestures support we might be able to do that interactively, by the user. So far, it needs to be done programmatically.12:42
mvladwalzert: hmm, I assumed that host machine is linux. Though I've been using qemu on windows quite a long time ago. Unsure what is the state atm.12:43
leon-anavisounds cool :)12:43

smurraywalzert: I can try with vbox on Linux here to see if I can reproduce13:54
walzertsmurray: that would be great, it's the same image  I build for the up².14:02
walzertmvlad: thank you for your help i was disturbed by a phone call. the idea was to give the students the possability to work on the projects without having the real hardware.14:04
walzertsmurray: so I have there the cli tools e.g. cannelloni added but they are not started on boot. it's the same as in the up² but no boot will end in homescreen.14:06
smurraywalzert: so to confirm, you get the homescreen on up^2, but not when running in virtualbox?14:10
*** adriano has joined #automotive14:11
dl9pfsata controller needs to be achi14:15
dl9pfif we're getting wrong fstab entries and first install fails and will not re-run.14:15
walzertsmurray: yes, the homescreen appears on up² but not not that often14:15
dl9pfabove is for virtualbox14:15
walzertdl9pf: agl ist starting right , I see splashscreen and after that it is black14:16
smurraywalzert: with master?14:16
walzertbut connecting over "ctrl + alt + F1" is working14:16
walzertsmurray: yes master14:16
dl9pfwalzert: can you check against: https://docs.automotivelinux.org/en/master/#0_Getting_Started/1_Quickstart/Using_Ready_Made_Images/#2-virtual-box-emulation14:17
smurraywalzert: try grabbing latest master, a couple of fixes went in the last day that might be relevant14:17
dl9pfchipset ich9 , sata ACHI is key on new image14:17
dl9pfand yes, scott has changes wrt bootup order in latest master14:17
walzertdl9pf: the instructions are good, i tested it with that.14:18
walzerttry to rebuild the image atm14:24
walzertdl9pf: is now a repo sync needed or just bitbake?14:25
walzertor devtool14:25
smurraywalzert: repo sync + bitbake for the changes I pushed this week14:26
walzertsmurray: thank you it is building14:31
walzert"ERROR: gpsd-3.19-r0 do_compile: scons build execution failed.14:38

walzertliteral. Did you mean "=="?14:38
smurraythat's a new one, I've not seen that14:39
walzertI'm good at finding them ^^14:41
*** thaytan has quit IRC14:41
smurraywalzert: I notice jellyfish in your path, note that backport of my dependency fixes to jellyfish from master hasn't been merged yet14:42
smurraywalzert: nothing's changed re gpsd that I can think of14:42
mvladmight want to try a cleanall. Should 'clear' up the the error. I've seen a gpsd error, when I sync'ed a few days ago, but don't remember if that was it.14:44
walzertI try to make a  new repo sync with master and try to add cannelloni that I could make the push14:45
