trucktalkThis is a little off topic but i understand pretty well the cdl , ASE certifications for land based vehicle operation and repairing. But i was wondering for water vehicles mainly for ocean what if any certification one has to get to operate or repair a ocean boat ?21:52
trucktalk...I know for most recreation ocean boats which are more in the 15 to 28 ft range or so there is safety certification test one has to take in most cases21:53
trucktalk...But I am wondering also on the repairing and fixing side i.e if there is an ASE equivalent to ocean boat fixing21:54

smurraytrucktalk: this channel is pretty much just about automotive software, mostly Automotive Grade Linux, and to some degree GenIVI.  I suspect you'll not find anyone with an answer to your question here21:55
trucktalk...I not sure if they do classes based on size of boat either for operation purposes21:56
trucktalkdo you/ anybody know any good irc channels on here for water vehicles?21:57
trucktalkIts bothering me since for the land vehicles i can fill in most any missing gap of knowledge one could ever asking me. I like to be also that knowledgable in the water vehicle side of things or prepared for it. Ready for any hands on thing possible if it occurs21:59
smurraytrucktalk: I'm not aware of any, sorry.21:59
trucktalkOk then do you know if one get really experience in car fixing how difficult he would have in moving to do marine /boat fixing. As to me the engine fixing would be essentially the same skills though the propellor shaft/propellor , and boat hull/electronics would be a little different22:02
smurraytrucktalk: sorry, no, I'm a software guy22:05
trucktalkok thanks anyway for reply . I just kind of want to find some way to beable to do a large amount of different types of work. But its one of those things how can a demonstrate i know everything in the areas i want to go into (or enough to be helped that last mile) to beable do it.22:07
trucktalkIts more an issue of freedom to work in different places and freedom to work in different jobs when you want to. (with in reason obviously )22:11
trucktalk...So if i was to find a way to demonstrate all my knowledge and gain all the hands on experience in any lagging areas. Would there be any thing stopping me from having more freedom to do this is what i am wondering about?22:13
trucktalk...And how i would demonstrate this knowledge and experience to them to know that they know i am fully qualified at anything i want to work in at any time.22:14
