furyhi guys09:42
furyhow's it hangin?09:42
leon-anavihi fury how are you?09:43
leon-anaviI notice the message from yesterday, great about your progress09:43
furyI'm pretty good :D how bout you?09:43
leon-anaviwhy don't you share you success story in the mailing list? I guess someone might be interested in helping you with the testing09:44
leon-anaviI have hummingboard and udoo with i.mx6 somewhere here09:44
*** aliraza has quit IRC09:45
furyyeah, I prolly should post to the mailing list :D09:45
*** aliraza has joined #automotive09:45
furyif I can get the sound stuff going then I think I can get the rest of the software team working from the AGL distro instead of the Wandboard Ubuntu distro09:49
furyI'll have to build up a couple of beastly compiling machines tho :D doubt they have the patience to compile on a dual core laptop09:50
leon-anavisounds as a plan09:52
leon-anaviyes, definitely you need powerful machines09:53
leon-anaviare the rest of your software team app developers?09:53
furywe're coming from microcontroller bare metal development, just trying to port our existing know-how onto a machine powerful enough to run a graphical / touchscreen UI...09:56
furyi assume once that's done we'll become app developers or whatever's necessary09:56
leon-anavi:)09:58
leon-anavicool09:58
leon-anavihave you upstreamed your changes for i.mx6?09:58
leon-anaviare there any change requests pending for a review?09:59
*** aliraza has quit IRC09:59
*** aliraza has joined #automotive09:59
furythe one change I did was to set the XDG_RUNTIME_DIR environment variable, not sure if that is an upstreamable thing or if it's specific to running on AGL. It's like your patch for getting Weston to run on the Raspberry Pi10:00
furysubmitted in gerrit, awaiting review10:00
leon-anavilet me have a look :)10:00
furyI'm fixing to submit a change to enable HID multitouch displays in the Wandboard kernel config as well10:02
furyI guess the default upstream kernel doesn't come with it10:02
leon-anavifury, you have +1 in Gerrit with a minor recommendation for improvement of the git commit message.10:06
leon-anaviagain, well done - great job :)10:06
*** JordonWu has quit IRC10:07
furyThanks! :D I submitted the Jira after the gerrit, kinda did that out of order10:07
furyI'm wondering for submitting my next patch do I need to reset to clean master (i.e. without the patch I submitted there)?10:09
leon-anaviNo10:10
leon-anavifury, you can easily edit your commit and resubmit it with better commit message10:10
*** JordonWu has joined #automotive10:11
furyCool :D always wanted to do that with git, it kept saying it was a bad idea to amend a commit if I'd already pushed10:11
leon-anaviuse git commit --amend and after that again: git push origin HEAD:refs/for/master10:11
leon-anaviyes, amend is fine the patch has not been merged yet :) Gerrit is good for this :)10:12
*** gunnarx has quit IRC10:12
furyI want to be able to go back in history and edit a git commit message to fix stuff like this where I got lazy :P https://xkcd.com/1296/10:14

leon-anaviI am sorry that I don't have a Wandaboard to give it a try10:37
RzRleon-anavi, you have humming board w/ imx610:41
furyis the hummingboard good? I think I might have one10:42
furywe got a little of everything to sample and see what we liked - nitrogen6x, beaglebone black, Pi 3, CHIP, Wandboard...hummingboard rings a bell, might have that somewhere too10:44
CTtpollardI'd forgotten about CHIP10:44

dl9pfRzR: hi12:41
RzRis there a buildfarm I can log in ? :)12:44
RzRI think I can prepare a patch downstream, but I have no cache state so I need to rebuild all12:45
dl9pfno12:46
dl9pfand I have no sstate-cache to add as sstate_mirror right now.12:47
dl9pfwe'll have to do it the slow way and fix it, change the AGL-repo, then readd the templates - sri12:47
dl9pfwill assist as much as possible12:47
RzRI am preparing a bbappend anyway12:48
dl9pfok, that works ...12:48
RzRno build bots to stress either ?12:48
RzRI think it will take up to hours to be able to test my .bba file12:49
dl9pfRzR: send me the stuff, I can spin a build12:49
dl9pffor you12:49
RzRok nice I will do this just after lunch12:50
dl9pfcool12:50
dl9pfRzR: can I apply the revert until we sorted this out ?12:51
RzRas you want12:51
RzRyou're the distro master :)12:51
dl9pfusually I'd wait for the fix, but ppl scramble to have all build and working for next week12:52
dl9pfwe can readd it before the weekend and have the snapshot builds then with it.12:52
RzRIt's doable12:56

smurraydl9pf: walt mentioned bringing the gechic touchscreen to the f2f, have you ever travelled with one before? I'm trying to think of how to pack it13:16
zeenixHi13:30
zeenixto get genivi-dev-platform successfully build on Fedora 24 and 25, we need to move to 54086de of poky/krogoth13:31
zeenixs/build/built/13:31
dl9pfsmurray: mine has the extra metal case. will be in my hand-luggage back-to-back with the laptop13:35
dl9pfsmall boards (no metal cases) , wiring and such stuff in the checked bag13:37
dl9pf... and don't forget to pack also a timeout clock ( :)  ) for more fun at the airport13:37
*** dirkb has left #automotive13:37
smurraydl9pf: heh. I still have the shipping box for the gechic, might repack it and stick it in a checked bag.13:38
dl9pfthat should work, too13:38
CTtpollardzeenix: GDP takes it's commit of poky from what is define by meta-ivi13:39
smurraydl9pf: I'm a bit hesitant to bring the porter board since it can't be easily replaced13:39
smurraydl9pf: speaking of porter, do you know if there are plans to bump it to the newer kernel that's in meta-rcar now?  There are no drivers for stuff like the wifi dongle in the 3.10 used by meta-renesas...13:42
CTtpollardit depends what version of meta-renesas you're referring to13:43
dl9pfhmm , lets ping walt in 20 if renesas can bring some bords there instead.13:43
dl9pfOn the kernel version, meta-rcar  is quite in flux. But if you can spin a working build, nothing stops us of duing a separate device template that uses meta-rcar13:43
dl9pfCTtpollard: https://github.com/CogentEmbedded/meta-rcar13:44
*** waltminer has joined #automotive13:44
dl9pfsmurray: much like the "porter-nogfx"13:44
zeenixCTtpollard: ah ok but who takes care of that?13:44
CTtpollardzeenix: https://github.com/GENIVI/meta-ivi13:45
zeenixCTtpollard: ah, should have checked github for pull requests :)13:47
smurraydl9pf: hmm, kind of a catch-22 there, either no graphics or no drivers for various things.  How were they demoing wifi on the porter before?  Must have been a different adapter?13:47
zeenixCTtpollard: too used to bugzilla and mailing-list patches13:47
dl9pfsmurray: does 3.10 not have the driver in source or just not built/included in the config ?13:48
CTtpollardzeenix; I've debated moving beyond the poky commit (staying in same release however) with GDP, however it was decided that meta-ivi declares it13:48
dl9pfsmurray: btw, when you have a minute ... can you take a look at c713713:48
smurraydl9pf: driver is not in source, need ath9k_htc afaik13:48
dl9pfsmurray: aah .... shoot.13:48
dl9pflala ... no comment, right13:49
dl9pfyannick__: kooltux: ^^^^  what about using meta-rcar for porter, too - comments ???13:50
smurraydl9pf: patch 2 on c7137 looks reasonable to me, though I must admit I'm not fully aware of all of the potential gotchas in the setup fragments13:54
zeenixhmm.. actually if i move poky to upstream krogoth, db patches don't apply :(13:55
zeenixhttp://paste.fedoraproject.org/477182/47878615/13:55
zeenixi guess some bbappend need to be updated too13:56
kooltuxdl9pf, I'm not aware of what Cogent did on their repo for gen2...13:56
CTtpollardzeenix: try cleaning db13:57
zeenix`bitbake -c cleansstate db` ? i already tried13:58
* zeenix tries cleanup of db-native13:59
CTtpollardtry just clean as well13:59
zeenixah that helps13:59
RzRdl9pf, .bba is imminent14:00
dl9pfsmurray: ok, appreciate your +1 then . I usually try to have 2 * +1 before merging.14:00
RzRdl9pf, hold the revert if possible14:01
smurraydl9pf: done14:01
dl9pfRzR: hmm, crap, too late14:01
RzRdl9pf, so I should revert your revert later today14:03
dl9pfyes14:04
RzRI have a local build here14:05
RzRdragonboard-410c14:05
RzR0: iotivity-1.1.1-r2 do_package_write_rpm (pid 22298)14:05
zeenixhmm.. nss failed to build still even with latest of krogoth poky14:11
CTtpollardzeenix: I'd recommend building on Ubuntu where possible, unless these are just patching erros14:13
zeenixCTtpollard: i guess i can just use our build server that's ubuntu14:14

furyor is it fine to say yes and submit both commits?14:44
gunnarxzeenix: nss-native is built using host compiler/libc14:44
gunnarxzeenix, let me dig up a reference for you14:44
zeenixgunnarx: yeah, that's the issue :(14:44
gunnarxdid you see the comments in JIRA (they were on a GoCD ticket but still)14:45
gunnarxif you did I don't need to find the reference14:45
zeenixgunnarx: no, i was replying to the first message :)14:46
gunnarxis rajm online, he's assigned at the moment14:46
rajmyes I'm about14:47
gunnarxso the ticket has come just as far as you have...  krogoth won't build.  the solution I assume is to throw in a local patch for the short term and log it at yocto14:48
gunnarxoh sorry, the ref: https://at.projects.genivi.org/jira/browse/GDP-44214:48
gunnarxI leave it in rajm and zeenix capable hands :)14:48
zeenixah14:48
gunnarxs/log it/file a bug/14:48
zeenixgunnarx: thanks, next time i'll try jira first14:49
gunnarx:)14:49
rajmthanks - it wasn't appearing in my open tickets for some reason I'll assign it to zeenix !14:49
gunnarxhey don't out me bro14:50
gunnarxoh it was private msg... everyone ignore that :)14:50
zeenixlucky me :)14:50
RzRdl9pf, is there a way to know if it will work on ALL targets ?14:56
CTtpollardif the fix is available in later version of krogoth, I'd suggest asking meta-ivi to move forward14:56
zeenixit seems it's not14:57
zeenixCTtpollard: i reset my poky repo to upstream krogoth14:58
zeenixbut i still get the build error14:58
gunnarxI did too, it's in the ticket14:59
gunnarxhence ^^ file a bug upstream14:59
zeenixgunnarx: yeah, will do15:00
zeenixgunnarx: is it possible you mistyped the version?15:21
zeenixgunnarx: i have glibc 2.24 here15:22
zeenixthe ticket says 3.2415:22
gunnarxanything is possible15:22
gunnarxlet me check15:22
gunnarxYes, it's 2.2415:23
gunnarxThe release notes I linked to were for 2.24, let me fix the ticket text15:23
zeenixcool, thanks15:23
gunnarxHmm, so 3.24 was the nss version15:29
gunnarxI think, unless I got that wrong too15:30
gunnarxdon't make me go through that again, fire up mercurial (!) and painfully figure out how to juggle tags and such :)15:30
furydl9pf: i'm fixing to submit the touchscreen crash patch, but i still have my previous commit -- what should i do, erase the unrelated commit? https://www.irccloud.com/pastebin/EmjKUDFg/15:34
furythe 98c6b0b outstanding commit is awaiting verify/merge in gerrit (7129), different issue than the touchscreen crash15:35
gunnarxwish the mercurial people would just give up already...15:42
zeenixgunnarx: yup, it's gone way past it's expiry date15:46
zeenixgunnarx: but then again, people still use SVN and even CVS15:47
gunnarxI can stand subversion for binary blobs and docs, but that's it15:47
