ronan__Hello09:39
ronan__dl9pf, I watched your gerrit review 6879, and I think your included.inc files are fully compatible with review 6959. So you should use review 6959 without any change on .aglsetup_genconfig.bash. What do you think about that?09:50

furysweet :D I don't have a riding license...partly because if I had one, I'd prolly get volunteered to go on test rides at work, and with my luck it'll be either freezing or blazing12:42
waltminerI am always happy to go on test rides.12:43
furyoh man. I'd be afraid I'd drop it, like, I never learned to ride a bicycle either :P12:43
furyI love working on the sound systems in the safety of the garage tho :P12:44

smurrayI'm having problems booting a turbot with a hddimg built from master, with both USB and uSD card it gets stuck at "Waiting for removable media"14:40
smurraybefore I dig in, wondering if anyone's seen the same?14:40
rajmsmurray is that a GDP image? I've tested turbot builds and not seen that problem14:57
erbosmurray: do you use the mkefidisk.sh script to create the bootable media? not just the hddimg14:59
smurrayerbo: there's a mkefi-agl.sh script in meta-agl/scripts that the minnowboard instructions point at15:05

furyleon-anavi: i figured out some stuff about the calibration and the crash. the crash was fixed in weston 1.10, and i gave up trying to calibrate in portrait mode, it just wasn't going to work. so i ran the Rotated.qml demo16:48
leon-anavi good progress16:48
leon-anavihave you shared your experience somewhere?16:49
leon-anaviIt will be nice to have this written down somewhere like JIRA or even AGL wiki.16:49
furyjust here in irc so far, wasn't sure how to proceed with conveying it elsewhere... jira issue for weston crash? mailing list discussion? wiki entry?16:49
furyit's worth noting it also happens on raspberry pi with the 7" pi display16:50
furytouch the edge of the screen and weston crashes16:50
furysimple but apparently unclean fix16:50
leon-anaviIf I were you I would report it in JIRA first and after that starting a mailing list discussion to increase the awareness for this issue.16:50
furyok16:50
furywhat component? graphics? or OS16:52
furyor should i just leave things blank and someone else can fill it in?16:53
leon-anaviIn my opinion Weston should be counted as graphics16:54
leon-anavidon't worry too much about this. The category can be changed after that.16:55
furyoh ok16:55
furycool16:55
furyi'm used to redmine... redmine's a little clunky but i've got the hang of it. tried jira a while back and just wasn't a fan of the javaness of it16:56
leon-anaviI like redmine :)16:59
leon-anaviit is free and open source :)16:59
furyyes17:02
furyif i had the time and the know how for the inner workings of redmine i'd overhaul it so that its UI was nicer...can't get a whole lot of people at work to use it because it's so scary looking :P17:03

furyi need to change some kernel configs in wandboard...anyone know off the top of your head how to fiddle with kernel configs and rebuild?19:27
furyguessing something along the lines of starting with bitbake -c devshell linux-wandboard, editing the config, and then forcing the bitbake to redo that compile19:28

smurrayfury: you can do something like "bitbake linux-yocto -c menuconfig", assuming wandboard uses linux-yocto. See: https://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/2.1.1/kernel-dev/kernel-dev.html#generating-configuration-files20:42
furyyeah, trying to get AGL up and running on our wandboard with a custom built carrier board, so need a couple of extra options turned on20:48
furyand i think AGL uses yocto20:49
furybitbake linux-wandboard -c menuconfig seems to have brought me to the menu config :D thanks!20:53

leon-anavi-cloudSorry I don't have Wanda board :(21:48
leon-anavi-cloudI think dl9pf has one21:48
furyalrighty :D i'll keep chugging along on porter or pi for now21:49

dl9pffury: got wandboard , no time to try it right now.22:09
dl9pfYour message is about "XDG_RUNTIME_DIR" not being set, that is a simple fix.22:09
furysweet :D I love simple fixes22:09
dl9pftry    export XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/run/user/root    or XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=/tmp/whatever22:10
dl9pfthen try weston-launch22:10
dl9pflikely we miss a variable there22:10
furywhat I hear is pop from the speakers every few seconds until I finally gave up and ctrl+alt+fN'd my way to a terminal to look at that journalctl22:10
furyok, i'll give that a shot now22:10
dl9pfwhich surprises me as it works on the other boards22:11
furyyes!22:11
furyI have a Weston!22:11
dl9pfwell it tries to start weston, but fails on the dir and closes again.   the funny part is we used to have such crappy failure handling in x11, but it improved quite a lot22:11
dl9pfYAY!22:12
dl9pf;)22:12
dl9pfthat XDG_RUNTIME_DIR   is the equivalent to  DISPLAY= in x1122:12
furycool22:13
furyces2017 demo runs, but I've got no touch input22:13
dl9pfwow , cool - did you modify anything from the template ?22:14
dl9pfok, touch is a different topic again :/22:14
dl9pfmight be a simple driver not built-in22:14
dl9pfto kernel22:14
furyjust working around the Weston touch bug that i ran into, and changing a couple of kernel configs (to get spidev user space support turned on, which is something i need for my custom carrier board)22:15
smurraydl9pf: I get "process 766: arguments to dbus_message_new_method_call() were incorrect, assertion "_dbus_check_is_valid_path (path)" failed in file ../../dbus-1.10.6/dbus/dbus-message.c line 1344." trying to run the als or ces2016 demos on turbot, seen that before?22:15
furyadd -I dummyimports/22:16
furynext to -I imports/22:16
smurrayah, right22:16
smurraymight be handy if the readme was updated22:16
smurrayfury: thanks, forgot I'd seen that go by22:18
furyyeah, it's an open issue in jira, not sure if that's the permanent solution or if something will change that makes it match the old instructions again22:18
furyalso, yep, looks like wandboard kernel config is missing some generic USB touch support22:20
furywonder if it'd be a terrible thing to just enable all touchscreen drivers in the kernel? :P22:20
furyhmm22:24
furynow i need to modify the device tree22:24
furybut i'll leave that for later, just want to check and see if this kernel recompile fixes touch input22:25
furyis there a way to bake that XDG_RUNTIME_DIR into the image that i'm making?22:25

dl9pfsmurray: should go away soon as qt5.7 and co is fully deployed22:42
dl9pffury: hmm, we have actually patches to set up that variable ...22:43
dl9pfcan you "repo grep XDG_RUNTIME_DIR" and see if we have it in an recipe already22:43
smurraydl9pf: okay. That's expected to be soon, iirc?22:44
dl9pfsmurray: qt57 itself is on, but the ivi-shell is not fully ported22:44
dl9pfso yes, that will be solved soonish22:44
dl9pftanikawa-san has the lead there22:45
smurraydl9pf: is there a reason there's not a run-demo.sh script that could hide things like this?22:46
dl9pfwhat shall I say ;) ;)  ...   you got the job ;)    (first feature request, support different sizes/scale)22:50
dl9pfsmurray: just did not materialize, yet22:51
smurraydl9pf: okay22:52
furydl9pf: https://www.irccloud.com/pastebin/YUkWOaH0/22:52
dl9pfgood idea22:52
furyi take it it needs to be added somewhere in meta-fsl-arm?22:53
furysince there's one specifically in there for raspberry pi22:53
dl9pffury: ah, did you build with or without the feature "agl-appfw-smack" ?22:53
furyi had to set mine to /run/user/0 if that lends any clues22:53
furywith22:53
furysource meta-agl/scripts/aglsetup.sh -m wandboard agl-demo agl-appfw-smack agl-devel22:54
dl9pfok, then it should actually be set in the same way ...22:54
dl9pfif you want to add it for fsl,  a place to add a bbappend is22:54
dl9pfmeta-agl/meta-agl-bsp/meta-fsl-arm/recipes-graphics/wayland/weston_%.bb22:56
dl9pfmeta-agl/meta-agl-bsp/<board-bsp-layer-name>  is the place for such hacks w/o modifying the upstream BSP22:56
dl9pfshould be empty of course, but in reality such bits like this will be in there22:57
dl9pfand if I look at that grep, I smell collisions  B/C   /run/user/$UID will be  /run/user/0  ... vs. the /run/user/root elsewhere ... sigh22:58
furyick22:58
furyand now my VM is not playing nice with my SD card, so i have to sneakernet an sd card image file over to a laptop lol22:59
*** jlrmagnus has quit IRC22:59
dl9pffury: USB sdcard adaptor + passthrough USB to VM ?22:59
furyi don't have a USB SD card reader handy, though that would be nice23:00
furythis one's hardwired to the PC somehow23:00
furyPCI i guess23:00
dl9pfthat difference in XDG_RUNTIME_DIR is probably worth a jira  (--> Jose Bolo)23:00
furywhat's stopping us from just using a newer version of weston which has that touchscreen bug fixed?23:07
*** toscalix has quit IRC23:08
furyif there's a good reason to stick with 1.9 with AGL patches then i think i can make a patch and submit that somehow, otherwise it's apparently fixed as of weston 1.1023:09
furynot sure how far weston's up to now, maybe 1.16?23:09
*** jlrmagnus has joined #automotive23:15
furyick...now my wandboard don't boot no mo :D23:33
furywonder if it's because of the kernel configs i enabled or because of the attempt to add XDG_RUNTIME_DIR environment var23:34
furymount failed, structure needs cleaning O_o23:35
furyargu23:49
furyi hate when it says that it wrote the SD card when it actually didn't23:49
furyi have to do the dd twice and then sync after that to get it to work O_o23:49
furyargh, i forgot HID multitouch panels in the kernel config :P yay another rebuild and resneakernet and redo the dd a couple times hehe23:53
furybut the good news is, the modification i did to the bbappend worked!23:55
furyso Weston comes up23:55
fury:D23:55
