JorjaHello03:24
JorjaI have a friend that has a 2009 Chevy Silverdo and it started running rough. So they had it check as the engine light was on and was told that it was cylinder 1 and that changing the coil would normal fix it. So they went and brought a coil and spark plug. Still runs rough and the error is the same when they had it check. What are some other things they can try?03:28

toscalixAsked on the mailing list about Qt version for GDP 1008:34
toscalixdl9pf: have you guys taken a decision about qt in AGL ?08:34
toscalixI remember reading somewhere you did. Checking my notes08:34
CTtpollardtoscalix: which list?08:35
toscalixprojects08:35
CTtpollardmust be slow mail day08:35
toscalixno, I have it in send later :-)08:36
toscalixdone08:36
fredcadeteI'm using Qt 5.5.1 from meta-qt5 jethro branch, with poky jethro. Newsflash: it works08:49
*** chbae has quit IRC08:55
jonathanmawCTtpollard: Shall I merge the tools-debug pull request?09:01
toscalixfredcadete: thanks09:06
toscalixlet's see what the different system archs from GENIVI need. The easiest would be to go for Qt 5.5.1.09:07

CTtpollardfor anyone following the 'single branch PoC' I've made a few changes https://github.com/tom--pollard/genivi-dev-platform/commits/tompollard/branchpoc10:58
*** ctbruce has quit IRC11:37
fredcadeteCTtpollard: so you include a target-specific bblayers.conf which in turn includes a common one?11:53
*** praneeth has quit IRC12:00
*** praneeth has joined #automotive12:00
CTtpollardfredcadete: yes12:07
fredcadetein that case it would maybe be interesting to use oe-init-build-env's argument in order to allow working with two machines on the same layer checkout? Something like "init.sh porter gdp-src-build-porter", then later do "init.sh raspberrypi2 gdp-src-build-rpi2"12:12
fredcadeteI can post a patch this evening if anyone is interested12:13
*** gunnarx has joined #automotive12:14
*** gunnarx has joined #automotive12:14
CTtpollardfredcadete: interesting I've not seen that before, I've just pushed a commit to handle git submodules on a target specific basis12:27
CTtpollardalthough it needs tinkering12:31
CTtpollardneed to rethink the qemu condition12:33
*** ctbruce has joined #automotive12:44
fredcadeteoh, I thought you would always check out all the layers12:56
fredcadetemy bad12:56
CTtpollardfixed my last commit to handle qemu 'non-bsp' exception13:01
CTtpollardfredcadete: if i'm remaking the wheel here and oe-init has something already implemented please do tell :)13:03
fredcadeteOE's approach is "always check out and include all the BSP layers for your distro"13:04
fredcadetethen from the same build dir you would be able to do "MACHINE=a bitbake image; MACHINE=b bitbake image", and it all compiles without resourcing anything13:05
CTtpollardfredcadete: understandable, this PoC started like that, but we wanted to reduce the size of the fully checked out repo13:05
fredcadeteOK, that's a choice, but it means we have to deviate from OE's approach13:06
CTtpollardfredcadete: it's a good point to keep in mind, gdp-126 is tracking this topic if you want to add that thought13:08
CTtpollardhttps://at.projects.genivi.org/jira/browse/GDP-12613:08
fredcadetein practice, some BSP layers like Renesas's will affect builds for other machines, so for that reason you also have to add work arounds (either a different bblayers.conf or BBMASK what you don't want for a specific machine)13:09
fredcadeteyou're right, that should be less noisy13:09
CTtpollardyeh, the bblayers are handling that issue, this was purely a commit to try and reduce network bandwith13:10

nishaanyone around who can help me understand how this works? https://github.com/PDXostc/rvi_sota_demo15:13
fredcadeteCTtpollard: they advise not changing the distro itself; if you go and change DISTRO_FEATURES like init system and such you will find dragons15:13
CTtpollardnisha: jlrmagnus maybe :)15:14
CTtpollardfredcadete: monday is too early in the week for dragons15:14
fredcadetethey are lurking somewhere every day of the week..15:15

nishaleon-anavi-cloud: I am trying to run the SOTA demo as shown here: https://github.com/GENIVI/rvi_sota_client15:34
nishaTo watch the client in action, you can run a demo with a dummy server. Clone the rvi_sota_demo project, then run python sota_server.py http://<docker_ip_address>:880115:34
*** toscalix has joined #automotive15:35
nishaleon-anavi-cloud: that lead me to the documentation here: https://github.com/PDXostc/rvi_sota_demo15:35
nishaleon-anavi-cloud: I am scratching my head because I am not sure how I would generate a SOTA package manually or upload it to the server running in the docker instance I have15:36

*** toscalix_ has joined #automotive15:41
leon-anavi-cloudUnfortunately right now I am not in front of my pc and I cannot be very useful through my smartphone for this issue.15:42
leon-anavi-cloudIf there is no example at the docs may be you can ping ATS for support through the mailing list15:43
leon-anavi-cloudIt is an open source project so any help, feedback and comments are welcome :)15:43
*** toscalix_ has quit IRC15:44
nishaleon-anavi-cloud: I emailed Arthur Taylor but is there an ATS mailing list I should cc or something?15:45
nishaI actually have not looked in that documentation for an example. I'll take a look today15:45
leon-anavi-cloudPlease have a look at the documentation first. SOTA is GENIVI project therefore I guess (although I am not sure :) ) that discussion in the mailing list are welcome.15:46
