CTtpollardleon-anavi: will you be around for the gdp hands on sessions?08:14
leon-anaviCTtpollard, my flight bookings are for 25-28 April so I will be around for the meetings and hands on sessions on 26-27 April.08:17
CTtpollardleon-anavi: cool, if we were to show how to add the sota client to a build, would you like to be involved for any questions about it / a demo?08:19
leon-anaviCTtpollard, yes, of course. I will be happy to help with any questions regarding the integration of the Yocto/OE recipes for RVI SOTA client in GDP. For other questions related to the user's manual and the specific usage of SOTA it will be better to contact the Rust developers from ATS who are involved in the project.08:23
CTtpollardleon-anavi: I don't think anything to specific, I just think it's a nice example of how to add your own software / recipes to GDP08:24
leon-anaviCTtpollard, ok, that's easy. It's just IMAGE_INSTALL_append = " rvi-sota-client" :)08:24
leon-anaviIf anyone is interested I can explain details regarding meta-rust and the other dependencies of SOTA which I had to figure out while I was working on the integration with GDP.08:25

CTtpollardleon-anavi: if you want to demonstrate it with your docker example then maybe that09:08
leon-anaviCTtpollard, as you say :)09:14
leon-anaviI will install these docker images on my laptop.09:15

CTtpollardand while that is happening show them a demo09:18
CTtpollardthat is, if everything doesn't break :)09:19
leon-anaviCTtpollard, sounds cool :)09:19

leon-anaviCTtpollard, I have just sent a couple of patches for RVI SOTA client to the mailing list.10:42
leon-anaviAs I wrote in the cover letter, the patches contain a minor improvement and an update the to the latest version.10:43
CTtpollardleon-anavi: hey, I see them, I can't promise I'll be able to get them tested and merged before the AMM though :/10:44
leon-anaviCTtpollard, no problem, I am not in a hurry with these patches.10:44

toscalixleon-anavi: will you be in paris?11:37
leon-anavitoscalix, yes, Pete Popov and I will be in Paris for GENIVI AMM.11:38
toscalixare you participating in the hands on sessions?11:38
leon-anavitoscalix, earlier today CTtpollard asked me if I will be around during the hands on sessions with rpi2 and if I will be available to share my experience with the integration of RVI SOTA client (if anyone asks about it) and I confirmed :)11:40
toscalixah, ok. Didn't read it11:40
toscalixyou guys talked, fine then11:40
leon-anaviyes, just scroll to have a look at the irc log11:41
leon-anavitoscalix, do I need to register or to mark anywhere my presence for any of these session?11:41
leon-anavisorry for asking, I just haven't visited any of the previous AMM meetings.11:42
*** kooltux has joined #automotive11:54

leon-anaviCTtpollard, I have just run the demo with RVI SOTA client on rpi2 and docker images on my laptop. It works fine, just like expected: INFO:sota_client::remote::rvi::edge: Ready to accept connections.12:17
leon-anaviCTtpollard, should I carry a router to connect my laptop to the rpi2 for this demo during the hands on session?12:18
toscalixleon-anavi: suring the registration process to the event, you need to sign up for the sessions you want to attend. Mark the hands on sessions YOCTO GDP for rpi2 and renesas porter12:19
CTtpollardleon-anavi: there might be routers / switches in the rooms, I'm not 100% sure though12:20

gunnarxI have added some commands to collect up logs and upload them as artifacts.  So when bitbake says "refer to log such and such" for the failure, it can now be accessed from the Go server.  It has been added to most of the GDP and baseline templates I believe20:33
*** astrophys has quit IRC20:40
paulsherwoodheard elsewhere "GENIVI has no software, AGL does"20:40
aeicheI think the purpose of GDP is to change that.20:40
paulsherwoodthe world is full of bullshitters20:41
gunnarxFriday night paulsherwood ?  :)20:45
gunnarxOh no, it's thursday20:45
paulsherwoodi've already done my 60 hours this week :)20:46
gunnarxaeiche, you didn't get it I think :)   A change is not needed since software was produced before GDP.  But yes GDP should be useful for testing out existing and new software of course.20:47
gunnarxpaulsherwood, I feel as if I have too...  Here I am not wanting to give up for the night20:48
paulsherwoodnever give up :)20:48
paulsherwoodalso some talk about a new 'management company' for GENIVI? what's that about?20:48
gunnarxwut?20:48
gunnarxguess I'm out of the loop :)20:49
paulsherwoodwell if you're unaware, i expect it's nonsense20:49
gunnarxprobably20:49
aeichegunnarx, That's fair, but I think the issue is a matter of exposure. There are a lot of people who don't think GENIVI is putting out any software.20:49
aeicheGDP serves as a practical showcase for those projects.20:50
gunnarxYes I see what you mean20:50
gunnarxpaulsherwood, suppose we will know by the time of the keynote next week20:51
paulsherwoodack20:51
gunnarxDespite the software I think long-term architecture and standards building is an even more important outcome of GENIVI20:53
gunnarxI guess you'd expect me to say that though ;)20:54
paulsherwoodi agree with you, actually20:54
gunnarxwhat?  we must celebrate.20:54
paulsherwoodindeed.. we used to agree a lot... we could reminisce :-)20:55
aeicheThe standards coming out of GENIVI are definitely the important part, but I think they don't have much sway unless they're implemented somewhere.20:57
aeicheIf we have a reference implementation - especially in the context of something that can be "pulled off the shelf", people/companies have a reason to adhere to it.20:58
paulsherwoodlike weston :-)21:00
paulsherwoodwhich started as a reference implementation, is now a de-facto standard, but occasionally folks still seem to be writing their own compositors21:01
aeicheright21:02

paulsherwoodaeiche: are you showing something at the AMM?21:03
aeicheWe have a few things we're showing. We dusted off MediaManager and got it running on GDP21:03
aeicheI don't know if the rest of the stuff is under wraps until the show or not21:06
aeiche:)21:06
paulsherwoodack21:07
paulsherwoodthanks21:07
aeicheI won't be there this year, sadly.21:07
aeicheBut we have a handful of people coming out21:07
gunnarxnext time hopefully21:08
gunnarxno hop across the pond21:08
aeicheyeah, San Francisco in October I think I heard?21:08
gunnarxYeah, Burlingame by the airport... but it's in the area21:10
gunnarxmedian home value in Burlingame is $1,800,000, omg21:11
aeicheyeah21:12
aeicheSF is expensive.21:12
aeichepaulsherwood, Are you guys bringing anything to the show?21:13
gunnarxAnyway I'm off for the night.  Bye.21:14
