Figuremorning11:18
toscalixgunnarx: I confirm pedroalvarez will be deploying a gdp maintenance (simple) pipeline on Monday.11:25
toscalixso we start using go.cd on regular basis11:26
gunnarxtoscalix, you mean the GDP maintenance project (ongoing on Yocto)?11:26
gunnarxor a baserock pipeline11:26
paulsherwoodor both? :)11:26
toscalixyocto first11:26
toscalixbaserock later, as was requested on the last BIT call11:27
gunnarxOK sure, but then it's presumably a modification of what is already there11:27
gunnarxGo builds GDP already I mean11:27
toscalixgunnarx: yes11:27
gunnarxSounds great.  I've created some of the pipelines as templates which is quite powerful.  For example, adding a new pipeline that tracks/builds a differerent branch should just be reusing the template, only the fetched "materials" part differ11:28
gunnarx*are *differs... I'm not a native speaker and this is irc :-P11:29
pedroalvarezyes, template pipelines are powerful, but CI and build systems is a really complicated problem11:31
pedroalvarezFor now I will have to create a different template :/11:32
pedroalvarezgunnarx: yes, Go builds GDP, but we can do better than that, like building every pull request11:32
pedroalvarezor like deploy into boards and run some tests11:33
gunnarxoh yes, I agree11:33
pedroalvarezthese little things that will help to speed up development and maintenance11:33
gunnarxfeel free to create better templates11:33
toscalixI am looking forward of two things: having very basic acceptance tests and failures that happens in yocto and not in baserock or the other way around11:37
gunnarxmostly the former I suspect :)11:38
toscalixthat is.... same pipeline but different build tools11:38
gunnarxjust kidding :)11:38
toscalix:)11:38
paulsherwoodgunnarx: some times i am completely confused by your sensayuma11:38
gunnarxtranslate please11:39
gunnarxsense 'a humor, ah11:39
paulsherwood:)11:39
paulsherwoodgunnarx: when do you break for xmas?11:40
gunnarxpedroalvarez, it's more than "simple" as toscalix said then ;-)  want to share some of your ideas?  w.r.t. every pull request, it sounds like it will relate to a Gerrit type discussion?11:40
FigureTarnyko: reviewed.. sorry for the -1 again :/ only small issues tough11:40
toscalixgunnarx: I do not know out there a project that provides the same automated pipeline using two different build technologies that you can really compare. There might though11:40
toscalixI think it is an interesting effort.11:40
gunnarxgood question paulsherwood.  I didn't expect to be on sick leave today.  39C fever last night11:40
pedroalvarezgunnarx: I'm afraid it will, and I've already tried to discuss that on this week tools team meeting11:40
Figureis there same wiki page regarding the GDP?11:41
FigureI'm interested to test it out11:41
Figurealso are there gerrit or something like it used for code review etc?11:41
paulsherwoodgunnarx: sorry to hear that!11:41
paulsherwoodCTtpollard: can you help Figure with the above?11:42
toscalixgunnarx: if you are sick on Monday, let us know and we delay the deployment if you prefer11:42
toscalixCTtpollard: is on vacation, I believe11:42
gunnarxmany discussions at once here, so paulsherwood next week is basically F2F all week, I guess the head cold has passed then.  Then the week after I'm on vacation up until Xmas.  Expect to work 28-30 December though11:42
paulsherwooderk. jonathanmaw ^^?11:43
paulsherwoodor toscalix? i assume you're expert in all things gdp now? :-)11:43
gunnarxtoscalix, +1 on testing stuff with multiple tools, multiple compilers.  As of now the two baselines build different versions of some packages.  This is either good or bad?11:44
toscalixFigure: http://wiki.projects.genivi.org/index.php/GENIVI_Demo_Platform11:44
jonathanmawtoscalix: thanks11:45
toscalixFigure: at the bottom of the page you can find the releases11:45
jonathanmawFigure: we don't have a gerrit for code review for the GDP, though we're experiencing pain points for the lack of it or something like it.11:45
paulsherwoodgunnarx: by default baserock aims to be more recent versions, which has the benefit of helping to iron out any integration problems with upstream sooner rather than later.11:46
toscalixFigure: we will have such a tool. We need it11:46
jonathanmawFigure: if you would like to submit patches, I'd recommend using the genivi-projects mailing list (genivi-projects@lists.genivi.org)11:46
gunnarxhard to keep up here.  toscalix: I don't hope to be sick on Monday.  I can support in the morning - my flight to F2F is in the afternoon.11:47
toscalixgunnarx: thanks.11:48
Figurejonathanmaw toscalix: thanks. I'll try it out. I hope you are going to set up gerrit or something similar to handle the incoming changes11:48
pedroalvarezgerrit!! \o/11:48
TarnykoFigure: saw your review, posted my prepared answer before "parsing" it (will reply and send new patch set tomorrow or later)11:52
toscalixFigure: like with any tool, to implement it we need some agreement. gerrit is a natural option but I cannot say at this point which one will be.11:53
toscalixall I can say is that....yes, we need one and yes, we need it soon11:53
